Me v PMDD: the symptom tracker app for warriors!
“Tracking my PMDD symptoms saved my life… And it could save yours too.”
Over a decade ago, at the ripe age of 11, I reluctantly joined the cohort of people with periods…and also fell deep into darkness. Where once I’d been joyful and carefree, now a suffocating cloud of depression and anxiety that spurred phobias and obsessions left me helpless. My life was perfect, but my internal world was not. I was only 11. I had just started my period.
It took me ten years, two misdiagnoses, hundreds of therapy sessions, a handful of pills, and two full months of tracking my symptoms EVERY SINGLE DAY to find that my period wasn’t just a co-star in my mental health battle, but the villain.
I had Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD).
PMDD is a condition that causes debilitating symptoms of depression, anxiety, irritability, rage, suicidal ideation, and more, as well as physical symptoms in the days to weeks preceding one’s period. It’s basically hell on Earth, where you want to curl in a ball and cry on the bathroom floor, yell terrible things at the people you love, and unzip from your own body and mind, anything to ESCAPE!, over and over and over again, every two weeks!
Soon after diagnosis, I realized in my doctor’s office that there had to be an easier way to track PMDD symptoms. Tracking my symptoms was a turning point in my life and now I wanted to keep tracking to evaluate my new treatments and plan around the dreaded PMDD times.
There had to be an app for that.
There wasn’t. So my mom and I made one.
Introducing Me v PMDD…
Me v PMDD is the first app in the world designed and developed specifically for PMDD.
With it, we hope to break the stigma and silence surrounding this condition, unite all who fight PMDD (Warriors as I choose to define myself/us) and pave the way for new groundbreaking treatments and a cure.
Me v PMDD’s simple, yet empowering features provide a cohesive tool for anyone fighting PMDD. Users can rate the intensity of 30+ symptoms on a 0–10 scale daily and see ratings on monthly graphs to understand how our symptoms change over our menstrual cycles, the distinguishing factor for a PMDD diagnosis. Users can also track menstrual cycles and various treatments within the app. Beyond tracking, Me v PMDD includes a Self-Love Journal and links to outside resources to cope with and treat PMDD, including the Gia Allemand Foundation for PMDD’s life-saving peer support service.
Tracking my PMDD symptoms saved my life! I got diagnosed, found treatment, and am now living a relatively ‘normal’ life, like I never thought possible, because of tracking. I need this app to continue my journey of healing. I’m hopeful that my story will become one among the millions of us who will benefit from the Me v PMDD app.
Me v PMDD is available worldwide for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Within weeks of launch it has already garnered thousands of users. To learn more and view app screenshots, visit https://mevpmdd.comor explore our comprehensive Media Kit.
